question 6
Devotee: How do you feel if people speak ill of your Guru?
Didi Ji: I feel sorry for them. Their offence is so unforgivable that even God does not shelter them. They are not aware that they are being robbed of the most priceless treasure in the world. Perhaps they do not know the history of all saints. From time immemorial saints have always been misunderstood, abused, tortured and even put to death in their lifetime. We accept and value them only when they leave this world. This is no surprise.
question 5
Devotee: Sometimes people are scared that their family lives will be disturbed if they get too involved in devotion to God. Please guide me.
Didi Ji: Religion does not teach you to escape. It teaches us to balance the material and spiritual aspects of life, both of which are indispensable. This balanced growth gradually helps one to be tolerant, understanding and happy in all circumstances and in fact leads to a smoother family life.
question 4
Devotee: If somebody has accepted one Guru, is it an offence to leave him and accept another Guru?
Didi Ji: Not at all. A saint is actually a spiritual doctor who treats the diseased mind. Just as a person who is suffering physically changes his doctor when he is not satisfied with the treatment, in the same way, one is free to change a guru if that guru fails to treat our diseased mind. However, one should not have any ill-feelings towards the guru one leaves.
question 3
Devotee: How will I attain it?
Didi Ji: This depends on the answer to the second question. Nevertheless, one thing is evident. It is our practical experience that though we have attained various material goals time and time again, we have not found satisfaction. From this it is evident that we cannot attain true happiness through Materialism, and it is automatically proven that we can attain our goal only through Spiritualism, since there is no third path.
There are eleven main religions in the world today: Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism, Zoroastrianism, Judaism, Confucianism, Taoism and Shintoism. These religions put forth contradictory views regarding the attainment of true happiness and in fact there are contradictions within the same religion itself.
Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj reconciles all these apparently opposing views and reveals a universal path that respects all religions.
question 2
Devotee: What do I want?
Didi Ji: Both the Materialist as well as the Spiritualists declare that they desire happiness which is unlimited and eternal. Though their philosophies are totally contradictory, their goals are the same. Why? This subject requires deep reflection.
question 1
Devotee: Who am I?
Didi Ji: There are two views held by philosophers.
1. There is an entity called the "soul" apart from the body, which is the self.
2. The body is the self.
These two views can be referred to as Spiritualism and Materialism. Both those who support only Spiritualism or only Materialism are naive, because materialism is essential for development of the self. Maintaining a balance between these two is what true knowledge is.
